Ingeniero Agrónomo, con Magister Scientiae en Biometría y Doctorado en Ciencias Agropecuarias. Se desempeñó como profesor de Estadística y Biometría en la Universidad Nacional de Córdoba y como profesor de Diseño Experimental en la Universidad Nacional de La Rioja, Argentina. Entre 2003 y 2021 fue Coordinador de Unidad de Bioestadística del Centro Agronómico Tropical de Investigación y Enseñanza (CATIE) y profesor y coordinador del curso de posgrado de Herramientas estadísticas para la investigación en agricultura y manejo de RRNN. Además, ha impartido más de 300 cursos de capacitación en distintos países de Latinoamérica sobre Análisis de datos e interpretación de resultados en áreas de Agronomía, Recursos naturales, Biologia, Ciencias Forestales y del Ambiente. Ha dictado numerosos cursos de posgrado en diferentes universidades de Latinoamérica.
Es co-autor de varios libros en el área de la biometría y estadística aplicada, como Estadística para las ciencias agropecuarias, Buenas prácticas en la recolección, manejo y análisis de datos de inventarios nacionales forestales y otro de Diversidad funcional y su relación con los servicios ecosistémicos.
Es co-autor de los software InfoStat , QEco y FDiversity, que permiten crear y depurar bases de datos, realizar análisis estadísticos, y generar tablas de resumen y gráficos para presentar los resultados de una forma amigable y sencilla.
Ha dirigido más de 30 estudiantes de maestría y doctorado, y formado parte del comité asesor de tesis de más de 150. Tiene más de 100 publicaciones en revistas internacionales con referto. Su puntaje en páginas académicas como Reseachgate y Google Académico corresponde al percentil 95 de los investigadores a nivel mundial.
